Coffee of the monthFair Trade Organic Mexico Oaxaca Zapoteca.

Here is the link to the story and description of this special coffee: https://www.vournascoffee.com/coffee/fto-mexico-oaxaca-zapoteca/  In short, the Unión de Productores Campesinos Tierra Indígena Zapoteca (UPCTIZ co-op for short) represents several generations of proud growers from 13 different villages that have worked the same land for decades. The co-op headquarters is located in nearby San Miguel, where it maintains an arabica greenhouse and provides a number of benefits and services to its members. While visiting with Growers First, we met with one of the patriarchal members, Mr. Lau, now the grandfather, and his son Saul, who is a second-generation grower. We emphasize that these are very hard-working people who live off their own land as subsistence farmers, growing their own food and relying only on one another; coffee is their cash crop and everything else (beans, corn, herbs, produce) goes right from the farm to table. There’s no sugar coating it, this is a tough, rugged life that is largely dependent on coffee and the income it provides. Our fundamental goal is to strengthen the village and the co-op, and in the process establish operations as more sustainable, more lucrative, and easier to maintain.

Cupping Notes: Very clean, good acid, sweet notes of orange-citrus, slight hints of brown sugar and cocoa.

Product of the Month:  Mexican Cocoa:  This wonderful cocoa is our Best Seller!  We use a high butterfat Dutch Processed Cocoa (21%) and blend it with sugar and cinnamon.  The end result is smooth full-bodied cocoa that is affectionately known in Mexico to many as Abuelita (Granny in Spanish).  If you like chocolate and you like cinnamon, then this is a must in your kitchen!

Drink of the Month:  Mexican Mocha – Truly one of the best sellers year-round!  Take your favorite coffee and add this wonderful cocoa.  Add milk or milk substitute, top with whip cream, and maybe a dash of cayenne (if you like a kick of spice)!  Of course, you can simply make a Hot Chocolate, too.  Just warm up your milk or milk substitute and add the cocoa.  Disfrutar!

Tea of the Month:  Green Envy – Since we are featuring some of our BEST SELLERS this month, then this wonderful tea is a must for the green tea lover.  This delight is a mixture of whole leaf Organic Green Sencha Tea from China, lemon peel, calendula petals, and essence of apricot extract.  This tea is very fresh.  You only need to steep for less than 60 seconds to get the perfect balanced flavor. What is the health benefit of organic green tea?  Green tea has been shown to improve blood flow and lower cholesterol. A 2013 review of many studies found green tea helped prevent a range of heart-related issues, from high blood pressure to congestive heart failure. What's good for the heart is usually good for the brain; your brain needs healthy blood vessels, too.

Cheers!
