It’s October and Fall is definitely here!  We love this time of year as the weather cools and our desire for that hot cup of Joe takes on that deeper sense of satisfaction. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are rolling out the big guns and featuring a very special coffee from Mexico. Our coffee of the month for October is... Fair Trade Organic Mexico Oaxaca Zapoteca!

Coffee of the Month: Fair Trade Organic Mexico Oaxaca Zapoteca

Mexico as a whole is the world’s 8th largest producer of coffee, with the majority of production occurring in the southern states of Oaxaca and Chiapas. Oaxaca is populated by several indigenous peoples, one of them being the Zapotecs, who account for a large portion of the overall population and for whom our ‘Zapoteca’ carries its namesake. As a whole, Oaxaca claims nearly 36,000 square miles, with  much of it being farmland. Where coffee is concerned, Oaxaca's high altitude farmland with tropical microclimate conditions make it the perfect brewing ground. Oaxaca is home to a number of national parks, including the massive Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Biosphere Reserve which covers nearly 2,000 square miles. To the north, Oaxaca borders the popular Gulf Coast tourist state of Veracruz, where coffee was notably first introduced from Cuba in 1790.

Cupping Notes: Very clean, good acid, sweet notes of orange-citrus, slight hints of brown sugar and cocoa. No need to add any cream or sugar to this trophy of flavor. Tea of the month: Harvest Moon

Our Tea of the month is Harvest Moon. It is only appropriate that we celebrate the month of the Harvest Moon with our delicious tea sharing its namesake!  A cherry-vanilla essence layered with the goodness of rooibos tea. This caffeine-free herbal combines the many health benefits of Rooibos Tea and Rosehips along with the delicious flavors of tobacco and creamy vanilla cherry. Get yourself some and feel the warmth!

Drink Powder of the month: Pumpkin Spice

Well, it is October and that means we are all in on Autumn and of course it is PUMPKIN SEASON!!  So, our drink powder of the month is our super popular Pumpkin Spice. This delicious drink mix is a Blend of Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger, Cloves, and Allspice! Simply take (2) tablespoon of this amazing powder and dissolve it in your favorite beverage; hot or cold. It is that easy.
